Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a gentle, but powerful therapy that uses essential oils together with massage, to help a wide range of health problems to improve. Various forms of massage will be used in a treatment, e.g. shiatsu, lymph drainage and gentle effluerage. When essential oils are mixed with carrier oils like grapeseed oil and then gently massaged into the body, the mix will be absorbed through the skin into the blood-stream and therefore carried around the body healing as they go.
Stress and the hustle and bustle of everyday life, cause the body untold problems. Most major health problems and disease are caused at their root by the body's inability to balance the stress that is being imposed on it by life-style. Aromatherapy massage will help you to relax and de-stress, and once the oils enter the blood-stream, they can remain there doing their work from 2-5 days.
When visiting a good aromatherapist, they will also make suggestions with regard to how you can keep the benefits of treatment going, between sessions. For example, they may suggest making up a bottle of esstential oils mixed in carrier oil, so that you can apply it yourself between sessions, or perhaps suggest oils that can be inhaled (in various ways) to help a condition when your at home or work.
Whilst essential oils have their own benefits, whether mixed with massage or not, the massage itself has its own theraputic benefits. This gentle form of massage can release tension in muscles and body tissue and also help stimulate circulation, in order to improve health.
Using oils to add to a bath can also help you to relax and de-stress and your aromatherapist can advise on how many and what type of oil would be best for you.
Some people may prefer the aroma of one type of oil from another, but in general, everyone can benefit from this wonderful therapy.
